INFINITE RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Considering the city it lives in and its environment, Starwood adopts healthy production methods that never harm the environment by benefiting from the latest technological possibilities worldwide, in addition to having one wet electrostatic filter and four electrostatic filters at its facilities. It also proves mathematically that it has achieved its targets by making serious investments in online emission measurement systems on its stacks that can be monitored instantly over the internet.

The wet electrostatic filter (WESP), which started operating on 30 June 2010, is defined as the latest technology product produced worldwide in this field. It has an air cleaning capacity of approximately 420,000 m³/hour, and the amount of particulates in the cleaned air is below 15 mg/m³. Compared to the international legal limit value of 150 mg/m³, the result is that air emissions are achieved at a value 10 times below the standard limits.

While gases have been emitted from Starwood A.Ş.’s stacks at international environmental standards since 2004, this investment was made despite there being no obligation. Starwood expects this 6,000,000 € investment—financed entirely through equity and commercial loans—to set an example, and it expects the same sensitivity from all institutions.

In our country, where the disposal of waste boards and similar materials—being the main problem of the board-using sector—is mandatory, a special service is provided especially to the furniture sector: wastes are collected free of charge at the source, recovered at facilities, providing furniture manufacturers with great convenience and protecting them from disposal costs.

Carrying out similar work on wooden packaging waste and non-hazardous wood wastes, Starwood is an industry pioneer that highlights the importance of recovery.

All these efforts have been gathered under the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System principles and certified with the slogan “Infinite Respect for the Environment.”
